Full Moon in Pisces. Next take into consideration that the full moon is in Pisces. The Sun, the self, is in Virgo, known for routine and practicality. The Moon, emotion, is in Pisces: imagination and mysticism. It’s an energy of dissipation, or of sinking deep into the inner workings. So now we have a Full Moon (achievement, culmination) in Pisces (dissipation, depth).

How is the Full Moon Interacting with Your Natal Planets?
Natal planets or points in or aspecting Pisces. Next determine what planets or points in your natal chart are in Pisces (or in the first ten degrees of mutable signs, and so providing challenging aspects to today’s full moon). If the full moon doesn’t aspect any natal placements, it’s likely you’ll observe this eclipse more in how other people act than see it play out directly in your life.

Lunar eclipse at North Node. Now that we understand the basic energies of the planetary positions, let’s add in the lunar eclipse at the North Node.
Understanding the Lunar Eclipse
A lunar eclipse happens when the earth comes between the sun and the full moon. The earth gets in the way of the Sun’s light, casting its shadow across the Moon and dimming her light. So we have an impediment to the full moon’s fruition. All eclipses are associated with change, but there’s always more. Some astrologers associate lunar eclipses with relationships and emotions, lunar-ruled things. But more than that, the Moon is our intuition, and Pisces is highly empathic, so deep inner knowing is just as possible as getting lost in another person. But the Moon also represents our comfort zone, what makes us feel at home. The Moon represents the past and memory, so the Sun, as the present, is blacking out, you might say redacting, what came before. The sun, the present, insists that what went before no longer works. The liminality of eclipses creates moments of stillness and silence, not action.
Understanding the North Node Eclipse
The North Node is the head of the dragon. The head represents the direction the dragon is heading towards. The head chose this direction because it desires something ahead or because it anticipates a reward or sense of fulfillment. Meanwhile, the South Node–the tail of the dragon–is moving away from something or has completed its work. Sometimes the South Node in our chart is a place of comfort because we’ve already done this work and it feels familiar. Correspondingly, the North Node placement feels like something out of reach or beyond our capabilities. This gives the North Node the added understanding of “lessons to be learned” or “goals to be accomplished.”
Perhaps you can think of this lunar eclipse as the fruition of a subconscious memory that only darkness can reveal, but which embodies a new or clarified direction. More simply, the past culminates in a moment of stillness that reminds you of your yearning, of what you want.

Mercury-Sun conjunction. Let’s add some transits now. Mercury conjoins the Sun in Virgo and opposes the Moon. Mercury represents the mind, thinking, and communication. Virgo is detail-oriented, prudent, and precise. The full moon energy, as we saw above, is nothing like this! It is emotional and nebulous, a stark contrast to Mercury in Virgo. Contemplate how these energies might interact.

How does your innovation or just plain weirdness add tension to your lunar eclipse experience?
Full Moon square Uranus. Uranus is in the first few degrees of Gemini, and squares the Mercury-Sun conjunction as well as the Moon in Pisces. This configuration is called a T-Square and represents a challenging interaction between planets. It feels stalled or trapped and produces friction. On the other hand, it can provide a strong foundation for the change the eclipse precipitates. Uranus represents the unexpected, innovation, revolution, and eccentricity. These qualities, via the square aspect, are at odds with Mercury, the Sun, and the Moon and particularly with the contrasting Virgo and Pisces energies.

Mercury-Sun conjunction in yod to Pluto and Neptune with Moon at the release point. The yod configuration creates a funnel in which two sextile planets, in this case Pluto in Aquarius and Neptune in Aries, send all their energy down through the funnel’s cone toward the Mercury-Sun conjunction in Virgo. It’s a lot of pressure on the planets at the point of the funnel! And because Mercury and the Sun are quincunx to those two planets, they are receiving energy that is generally incompatible with or irrelevant to their normal interests. The pressure valve that releases the intensity of this aspect pattern is the point opposite the funnel’s stem–in this case the Full Moon in Pisces.
