Re-Enliven Tarot as a Creative and Spiritual Practice
Ground Your Practice in Symbolism and Storytelling
Play with the Building Blocks of Story
The purpose of this group study is to explore what gives meaning to the tarot cards. We eschew the idea that tarot cards have specific, set meanings, and instead embrace the premise that the cards are the building blocks of story and represent the underlying structure of narrative arc.
The tarot is a creative matrix. As a manifestation of Yesod, the Treasure House of Images, and the etheric Foundation of reality, tarot holds the potential for every possibility to become real. Likewise, it holds every story ever told, currently unfolding, and yet to be lived.
Unfortunately, every attempt made to lock the cards into a single position, to baggage them with meanings, to entrap the multivalent symbols and arrest them into ossified signs, pins lifeless images onto cards like butterflies sacrificed to scientific categorization.
Instead, let’s consider every spread we cast to be a cloud of pure potential, and our job as readers to twist ephemeral tendrils into threads that weave your soul-searching story.
Seek the Mystical Map of the Minor Arcana
In this ongoing series, we will turn our awareness to the Minor Arcana, wriggling free of standardized and imposed meanings, and seeking out the mythological DNA of each card, the mystical map that underlies the image, and the intuitive instructions that give each card of the deck its form and function.
Connect with the Mysterious Matrix of Creativity
If you would like to release the exhausting brick walls of the exoskeletons of tarot and find the living, breathing, shapeshifting goo of the mysterious matrix of creativity, please join me for this ongoing program.

Frequently Asked Questions
Quick Answer: My recommendation is, in addition to the live Zooms (or recordings), to plan on time for study and practice, about 20 minutes a day ~or~ two hours once a week.
Greater Context: There will be four two-hour sessions per month, either attending live or watching the recordings. Plus you’ll need time for your own study, practice and journaling, the core of any spiritual development program. As you go, you’ll find what works best for you. When you’re taking a class with me, my goal is to inspire you to want to do more. Your personal practice is not a burden that has to be gotten out of the way. It’s your “me time” that recharges you and restores your energy and fills your soul.
Quick Answer: The full cycle of the program lasts one year and nine months.
Greater Context: The full cycle follows a seasonal schedule. Each season, we’ll start one story that will unfold over the course of a year. Then the next cohort will join the first story in progress, and we’ll all add in a second story at that time. We’ll add a new cohort and story quarterly until we have four stories going, like a mythological polyphony. Each new story will add new themes. We’ll be looking at the same monthly set of tarot cards but comparing them to up to four different stories! This will unfold a giant kaleidoscope of stories and themes. The full cycle of the program lasts one year and nine months.
Quick Answer: You control the membership and can cancel or restart whenever you like.
Greater Context: When I’ve lead programs in the past, I came to understand that the commitment is not to attendance, but to the group and the process.
Quick Answer: The program content and group support will bring ease to your busy life.
Greater Context: What I’ve found when I lead ongoing programs in the past is that these programs can inspire major life changes for some people. Making a big move, changing careers, family changes, and so forth can come up for anyone in a spiritual program. When you are open to possibility, life can change. And ultimately, because my focus throughout all my classes and programs is personal growth and spiritual development through story and symbol, the program content and the group support are amazing for helping people through the ins and outs of life over the long haul. Not to mention that the insight gained from the practices worked can help you clarify your direction and bring ease to change.
Quick Answer: Not a problem. There will be recordings of all sessions.
Greater Context: I doubt very many people will be! It’s a big commitment. Although, of course, I love group participation, realistically it’s not going to be possible for every person to attend every session live. I think people will start to find the place that feels level and balanced to them. And everything will be recorded, so you can make up missed sessions.
Quick Answer: This program is intermediate level. You should be able to read a three to five card spread without consulting a book or online resource. You don’t need to know any astrology.
Greater Context: This is an intermediate level program. However, you don’t need to know any astrology. We’ll learn what you need to know as we go along. And although an interest in mythology and folklore will help, it doesn’t matter if you already know the stories we’re working with or not. I’ll give you reading materials on the stories, but it won’t be a lot of pages each month. With all of that said, in the past beginning tarot students who are very creative and strong self-starters, who are willing to follow my guidelines for card interpretation, and who are imaginative and have a strong interest in myth and story, will probably fit right in and be able to keep up without too much extra work.
