Eyelet Tarot Bag

Estimated Reading Time: 2 minutes

Recently I knitted a couple pairs of Montgomery Fingerless Mitts and thought, this basic pattern would make a good tarot bag. This is my first attempt at adapting a pattern for another use, so it’s not perfect, but it is functional.
This is a knitted drawstring tarot bag with a decorative eyelet row towards the bottom, useful for taking a peek at what deck is in the bag. I wanted something large enough to fit a larger deck like a DruidCraft or large size Thoth. (I’d make it narrower and a bit shorter for a standard size deck.) I started this as a bag for my DruidCraft deck and was using some brown and green variegated wool, but I didn’t have enough left, unfortunately, nor did I have anything that coordinated well enough for stripes. So I ended up using some pink Sugar and Cream cotton yarn that I had left over from the first time I learned to knit in the early 90s (it didn’t take that time, but I’ve since learned again). I didn’t have the heart to put my Thoth deck in a pink bag, so I used this mock up for the Magical Times Empowerment Cards by Jody Bergsma that I bought for my Tarot vs. Oracles presentation.
I hope you like it, and if you knit it up or do something similar, please share in the comments!

***I found some errors in the directions I had posted previously. I continued to work with this pattern and modified it a bit. I think it looks pretty good now! Please see Eyelet Tarot Bag Knitting Instructions or Download the pdf to get the instructions.***
