Reiki Classes

I teach a traditional Japanese style of Reiki with an emphasis on learning to form and increase your connection to spiritual energy, learning and applying the Reiki principles, and learning the elements of healing yourself and others. Traditional Japanese Reiki seeks to recreate as closely as possible what Reiki Founder Mikao Usui taught, strives to approach Reiki from a culturally Japanese perspective, and focuses on healing the mind/spirit first so that the body becomes healthy naturally. If you are interested in learning to connect with and use Reiki for healing and spiritual growth, these classes are for you!  Please contact me or subscribe to my newsletter if you are interested in learning more about upcoming Reiki classes.

I am a member of Shibumi International Reiki Association and uphold the Vision, Mission and Philosophy of Shibumi. I also uphold the Reiki Treatment Codes of Practice and the Reiki Course Codes of Practice.

Reiki Shares: Open to All!

What's the difference between Usui Reiki Ryôhô and Komyo Reiki? Read my article that attempts to explain the difference using a tarot analogy!

Usui Reiki Ryôhô

Traditional Japanese Reiki

I teach Usui Reiki Ryôhô Traditional Japanese Reiki through the International House of Reiki lineage. URR is based on the five pillars of the system of Reiki: the precepts, hands-on healing, meditations and techniques, the symbols and mantras, and attunements and reiju (the spiritual blessing). The International House of Reiki emphasizes reproducing as closely as possible the teachings of Reiki Ryôhô founder Mikao Usui, understanding the Japanese philosophies that underlie and inform the system, and developing a daily personal practice to continually strengthen and refine your energy.

Find out more about Usui Reiki Ryôhô at the International House of Reiki.

Better Integrate and Experience the Mysteries of Reiki

My URR classes are designed to spread out Reiki instruction over time for better understanding and integration of the information, to provide an environment of ongoing support, and to most effectively help you in establishing your regular spiritual practice. Unlike classes in Western Reiki or those taught by a traveling teacher where all the training is done in a compressed amount of time over one or two days, this in-depth and slowed-down approach allows you to fully experience the art of Reiki through a subtle unfolding of its mysteries.

You will receive reiju (the Reiki blessing and energetic initiation) at every class. The class is approximately 50% sharing of information through lecture and Q&A and 50% practice of meditations and healing techniques.

I am a member of the Shibumi International Reiki Association. My class requirements significantly exceed the rigorous standards of this organization.

Support and Follow-up in Your Practice

Support and follow-up in your practice is offered through the Denver Traditional Reiki Meetup monthly open Reiki Shares practice group and a private monthly meditation group exclusively for my students and my students’ students. Both these groups are offered on a donation basis and are to provide community with other Reiki practitioners and an opportunity to practice the healing and spiritual techniques of Reiki. Also, any student can re-sit a Reiki class they’ve previously taken with me for a nominal fee.

Komyo Reiki

A Keep it Simple System

When teaching hands-on healing techniques, Hyakuten Inamoto says, "Hands, surrender, smile." This is the basis for practicing Reiki in this traditional Japanese lineage. This "keep it simple" style of Reiki helps practitioners to improve mind and body to achieve and maintain optimal health, to live a healthy and peaceful daily life, and to strive on through daily practice to achieve Satori or Anshin Ritsumei, which is absolute inner peace, also called enlightenment.

Find out more about Komyo Reiki at Komyo Reiki Kai International Assocation.

Work Independently

Like the other Reiki classes I teach, this is a slowly unfolding practice. The primary difference logistically is that I will be offering this style of Reiki as a weekend class that meets two consecutive Saturdays to make it more accessible for people with busy schedules. There are certain requirements and homework determined by Komyo Reiki Kai standards that must be completed after the class is over before you can receive your certificate--this makes it easy for you to practice on your own in your own time.

This is not a fast-track Reiki system—it can take years to become a Komyo Reiki Kai Shihan (teacher). But the rewards are immense as you are able to work independently, join with a community of students, qualify for discounted training, and re-sit classes to learn and see anew from your perpetually increasing level of understanding.

I am a Komyo Reiki Kai certified Shihan and studied under Hyakuten Inamoto. The requirements of my classes exceed the rigorous standards of the Komyo Reiki Kai International Association.

Komyo Reiki is taught in four levels: Shoden, Chuden, Okuden, and Shinpiden.

Students should gain a basic knowledge of Reiki Ryôhô and its history and learn the fundamentals of the hands-on healing practice. Prerequisite: Certification in Komyo Reiki Kai Shoden degree and completion of 6-12 weeks ongoing practice of techniques.

Enhance Your Energy with the Reiki Symbols

Chuden means ‘middle’ or ‘intermediate’ teaching. The focus of Chuden is on helping others through distant healing and to help the student become more aware of the concept of non-duality and of their connection to and impact upon the world around them. This is achieved through practice in the use of shirushi (symbols) and jumon (mantras). This practice can enable the student to enhance their own energy levels and sensitivity. Three shirushi (symbols) are given and additional Japanese techniques are taught. Class is taught in two days and students receive four reiju.

Course includes certificate and Level 2 handbook.

3. Okuden

16 hours of group instruction and practice, plus additional independent study

When: Next class TBD

Where: Isis Books and Gifts, 2775 S Broadway, Englewood, CO 80113

How Much: $250

Prerequisite: Certification in Komyo Reiki Kai Chuden degree and a minimum practice period of 6 months using Chuden distant Reiki and Traditional Japanese techniques.

Heal with Spiritual Hands

Okuden means ‘deeper knowledge’ or ‘inner most.’ The focus of this degree is on the spiritual practice of Reiki Ryôhô. It is intended for Teacher candidates and/or Reiki practitioners who want to deepen their understanding of Reiki Ryôhô and develop their inner growth. Students will explore the inner teachings of Reiki Ryôhô through spiritual cultivation and upliftment, and begin to tread on a spiritual path to “Anshin ritsumei” or Satori (enlightenment). The fourth and final shirushi (symbol) is given along with instructions in its use and meaning.

Course includes certificate and Level 3 handbook.

4. Shinpiden

When: KRK Shinpiden is offered on an individual basis for those who have completed prerequisite training.

Prerequisite: Certification in Komyo Reiki Kai Okuden degree and a minimum practice period of one year using Okuden techniques. Written essay on the topic of why you wish to become a Shihan. Successful completion of a written and practical examination.

Sharing the Way

Shinpiden, or ‘Mystery Teachings,’ is the Teacher Level. It is known in the West as the Master, or sometimes Master-Teacher, Level or Degree. The focus of the Shinpiden level is on sharing the way. After training is completed, the student has the knowledge and experience necessary in order to teach all four degrees and give reiju (attunements) and training in all levels. No reiju is given to the student for this degree.

Once training has begun, the student enters an apprenticeship program. The student is expected to participate in frequent Reiki gatherings held by the Shihan and is required to provide proof of re-sitting in on a minimum of 2 classes for each Komyo Reiki level as a review and reinforcement of the teachings.

Daiseishi Bosatsu Reiki: Reiki Basics to Awaken the Buddha Nature

12 hours of instruction and practice

WhenThis course is not offered this year. Last occurrence: Thursdays, Jul 9, 16, 23, Aug 6, 13, and 20, 2015. 7-9 p.m.

Where: Isis Books, 2775 S Broadway, Englewood 80113.

How Much: Free

Daiseishi Bosatsu achieved enlightenment, but then rather than staying in the state of nirvana, he returned to this world to help relieve suffering. He vowed to awaken the Buddha nature in all beings through the vigor of his great wisdom. He illuminates all with the light of his wisdom, destroying the worlds of illusion and causing all beings to proceed towards enlightenment.

Daiseishi Bosatsu Reiki is an Usui Shiki Ryôhô, which is to say a healing method in the style of Usui-sensei. Inspired by Daiseishi’s call to awaken all beings and Usui-sensei’s promise to release this method to the public for everyone's benefit and happiness, I developed Daiseishi Bosatsu Reiki as an easily available and highly accessible introduction to the practice of Reiki Ryôhô.

Daiseishi Bosatsu Reiki teaches the worth of connecting to the culture, philosophy and wisdom of the Japanese lineage, the value of receiving the energy, understanding and wisdom of the teacher, and the invaluable profit of personal practice: awakening the inner wisdom of the self.

This six class series is for anyone who is curious about Reiki and wants to learn the basics of awakening your spiritual nature for the purpose of achieving health and happiness. This class is also for those who wish to deepen their existing healing practice with the spiritual techniques found in Traditional Japanese Reiki. Each class will teach both the Western and traditional Japanese viewpoints for comparison—so it will also be a great way for people already trained in one system of Reiki to learn the basics of the other system.

Reiju (the Reiki blessing and energetic initiation) is offered at each class. Reiju will be performed by either myself or one of my students who has completed Shinpiden (teacher level) with me.

Course curriculum includes:

  • The History and Principles of Reiki
  • Basic Reiki Meditations
  • Hands-on Healing
  • The Energy Systems of the Body
  • Awakening the Buddha Nature
  • Reiki Shares Practice Group

Complete all six classes to receive your Usui Shiki Ryôhô/Daiseishi Bosatsu Reiki certificate. Handouts are provided for each class.

Support and follow-up in your practice is offered through the Denver Traditional Reiki Meetup monthly open Reiki Shares practice group, offered on a donation basis. Reiki Shares provides community with other Reiki practitioners and an opportunity to practice the healing and spiritual techniques of Reiki.

If after completing your certification in Usui Shiki Ryôhô/Daiseishi Bosatsu Reiki you wish to learn more about Reiki and further develop your spiritual practice, personal energy and healing techniques, please consider advancing to the Shoden classes I offer in Usui Reiki Ryôhô or Komyo Reiki.

Please register by RSVPing at the Denver Traditional Reiki Meetup.
